Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

Yesterday’s swell had dropped significantly overnight but there were plenty of waves on offer and only three other surfers in the water when our intermediate and advanced guiding group paddled out at Impossibles for the late morning session

Waves were breaking around head-high and improved in quality as the tide pulled out with long racy walls in the sun for everyone to enjoy

The swell is expected to fade further overnight but there will be plenty around tomorrow still for all of the premier breaks in the local area to be firing again

Advanced Surf Guiding at Balangan and Impossibles, Bali

With the swell peaking this morning, the south coast spots were maxed-out as expected, so we headed for the cover of the Bukit Peninsular’s west coast

Even at more sheltered spots, the waves were breaking well overhead with a tow crew in the water at Balangan. Our advanced group settled on Impossibles as the spot to surf at where the large swell was serving up huge green walls and long, leg-aching rides.

After a low-tide sunset session at famous Padang Padang this afternoon, the swell should start to decline for another day of great waves tomorrow.

Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Everybody was eagerly awaiting the arrival of this morning’s new swell. At dawn there still wasn’t much showing but by mid-morning, waves had started picking up for our advanced group’s session at Uluwatu

At the start of the session there was fun waves running down the reef around chest-high but a couple of hours later, the swell had increased significantly with clean conditions, long powerful waves and plenty of barrels being enjoyed well into the afternoon.

With the swell continuing to build, we’ll be heading for some more sheltered breaks tomorrow and there will be plenty of options available for the beginners and intermediates too

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Greenbowl, Bali

With the last ripples of a fading swell, the options for the intermediate and advanced surfing group were limited this morning so we headed to Greenbowl — one of the south coast’s swell magnets — to make the best of the conditions

Due to light variable winds the conditions weren’t perfectly clean, but there were plenty of waves between waist and shoulder high breaking both left and right along the reef

With a new swell arriving tomorrow and building through the day, it should mark the start of another great week of waves ahead

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate surfing group returned to Uluwatu this morning for the day’s first surf where wave height was smaller than the previous day.

It was the perfect morning for building confidence in what can be an intimidating surf spot as waves were breaking without as much power as normal, between waist and shoulder high.

We’re expecting the swell height to fade further in to tomorrow so it might even be possible for the beginners to give world-famous Uluwatu a try for themselves.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Dreamland, Bali

With a solid swell and a low tide to start the day, Dreamland was the pick of the spots for the intermediate and advanced surfers this morning

With head-high sets breaking off both sides of the A-frame there were long hollow faces and even a few barrels up for grabs with relatively few surfers in the water

The current swell is expected to fade throughout the day tomorrow before a new swell will start to show what’s in store for the weekend
