Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Today’s report comes from the early afternoon session at Uluwatu where our intermediate and advanced surfers were taking advantage of light winds to get a session in at one of the breaks in the local area

Waves were bumpy and far from perfect but a less than ideal surf is always better than no surf at all!

We’re expecting tomorrow’s wind to be too strong for a local session so it’s likely that we’ll head for the shelter of the south/south-east facing beaches of the Bukit

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate and advanced groups returned to Uluwatu for another early morning session today where they were greeted with beautiful weather, clean waves and relatively other surfers in the water.

Waves were breaking in the shoulder to head high range with light offshore winds, and which kept the waves very clean and there were plenty of long glassy waves for everyone to enjoy this sunrise session.

Advanced Surf Guiding at Pandawa, Bali

With bumpy conditions and the last of the remaining swell not offering much at our local breaks, we ventured to Pandawa on the the south coast of the Bukit Peninsular this morning.

Waves were quite clean and breaking with some power between head-high and a little overhead so it was certainly a session for the advanced surfers.

After a rainy morning with variable winds, the sun came out and the waves cleaned up nicely for the second session at Uluwatu.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Greenbowl, Bali

We headed to Greenbowl for this morning’s intermediate and advanced surf session where the light overnight onshore wind was resulting in conditions being a little bumpy.

Waves were breaking — mainly right — between chest and head-high and with fewer than ten surfers in the water, there were plenty of waves to go around.

With the smaller wet-season swells and changeable winds it can be a little tricky to find quality waves each day here but there’s no better place to be located than here on the Bukit peninsular where it’s always offshore somewhere.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Balian, Bali

PPSC were on the road today as we travelled to the west coast of Bali to surf at Balian this morning

Although the water isn’t quite as picturesque as the blues of our local reef breaks, conditions were very clean, breaking left and right between chest and head-high, and there were only a few other surfers in the water.

With onshore conditions predicted locally again tomorrow, we’re going to stay the night to hopefully score some more clean uncrowded waves tomorrow.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Geger Left, Bali

With the south-westerly winds overnight continuing into the morning as expected, our usual playground of the Bukit’s west coast was not suitable today so we headed east.

Geger Left was the spot of choice for the intermediate and advanced surfers and it was our first time back at the surf spot since our last session in February.

Waves were a little bumpy but very clean and breaking between chest and head high.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

It wasn’t quite the morning we’d hoped for at Uluwatu as our intermediate and advanced surf guiding group returned for the dawn session today.

Waves were breaking cleanly between waist and head-high but the wind overnight and lack of an offshore breeze to start the day resulted in conditions being quite bumpy.

Today’s bump in swell will continue to fill in throughout the day, so there should be plenty of options for tomorrow’s session — whatever direction the wind is blowing.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

The crew were up early for the dawn session at Uluwatu this morning where conditions were glassy and empty.

As we’re at the end of the current swell, wave height and power continues to fade. Uluwatu is still an Indonesian reef break after all, so there were a few mini barrels to be found if you knew which ones to pick.

We’re expecting a bump in swell height later this afternoon so it’s looking like the amazing conditions that we’ve been enjoying the past few weeks will continue into this week too.
