What a morning we had! The surfers who braved the rain this morning were rewarded with excellent waves for beginner surfers and a rainbow, or pelangi in Bahasa Indonesia, as a bonus for their commitment. Our surfers found easy-peeling left and right walls delivering long rides, which is perfect for surfers who are still developing their balance and control of the surfboard.

Many surfers shy away from surfing in the rain. In certain locations, it is best to be avoided as runoff from paved surfaces washes everything into the ocean. Here in Padang Padang, we are far enough away from any major development or source of pollution for surfing in the rain to be a problem. Many surfers find surfing in the rain to be peaceful or calming. As an added bonus, the rain smoothes the surface of the ocean removing roughness or chop caused by the wind.
