Activity: Surf Guiding

Balangan is one of our favorite surf spots in Bali. Not for no reason, the beach is amazing and the waves are just perfect for our intermediate and advanced groups. Today, the swell was a little smaller than yesterday, but the waves were still great and with just a few other surfers in the water, we were able to catch many waves.

To make the most out of your surfing holiday and to improve your skills as fast as possible, having consistent surf conditions every day is a key aspect. The waves don’t have to be double overhead to have fun and progress. A perfectly breaking, hip-high wave often is better than a fast-breaking hollow freight train. Smaller waves, like these, give you more opportunities to do turns and to work on your technique. That is what will bring your surfing skills to the next level.

Unusually small swell in Bali but there are always waves to be found at Uluwatu. The season is slowly changing and instead of a consistent strong offshore wind, the wind is now light and variable. October is a good time to explore surf breaks on the south coast and east coast, which breaks up the crowds and also offers some variety of surf spots.

A light onshore wind and waves shoulder-head high but still some power and very good wave quality. It’s only very small for 1 day and tomorrow we are looking forward to a 15 second west swell.

Uluwatu was great this morning due to the slightly bigger swell that had arrived overnight. Clean, long left-handers all morning long and only a handful of other surfers out there. This is how we like to wake up, jumping into lukewarm water with perfect waves in front of us.

As the season is changing, so does the wind direction. Now, glassy conditions in the mornings are the norm and off-shore wind conditions in the afternoon and evenings. Soon, the wind direction will change and come from the west. Then, Nusa Dua and the east side of the Island will be on our radar. Many great surf spots await us there, and every regular footer will love the right-hander buffet Bali has to offer.

Uluwatu was great today! Glassy conditions with long, perfectly breaking waves were peeling over the beautiful reef all morning long. This surf spot is mesmerizing, not only because of the waves but because of its location and scenery as well.

It is a special place to surf, culture and nature come together and provide a unique setup that attracts many surfers from all over the world. If you travel to Bali, this is one of the must-dos on the Bukit. No matter if you surf or not, it is worth going to and enjoying the view. As a surfer, you will be amazed by the great waves and crystal clear water.

After a couple of days of bigger waves, the swell has dropped and shoulder to head-high sets came consistently at Balangan this morning. Due to the very low tide at 7 am, we decided to have breakfast first and surf with the incoming tide.

When we arrived, only a few other people were out, and catching waves was easy. The session was fun and everyone had a great time. On days like this, with only a handful of other surfers in the water, you can improve a lot due to the high wave count. The more waves you catch the more progress you will make. After a well-deserved break on the beach, we decided to take advantage of the high tide and go again for another session.

With the low tide early in the morning, there are only a handful of surf spots that are safe to surf. With the local knowledge of our surf instructors, finding these spots is no problem at all. Dreamland was the best choice today, the offshore wind shaped the head-high waves into a perfect A-frame.

Most days, the right-hander works better than the left. Due to the deepwater channel, the shoulder stays open nicely and offers plenty of room to do turns. If you are looking for a little cover-up, the left-hander is the better option, but be prepared to deal with a closeout section at the end. Either way, this wave is fun as hell and a great playground to improve your surfing skills.

Padang Padang is one of the most beautiful surf spots and beaches Bali has to offer. And for good reasons. White sand, lush nature and crystal clear water are only a few of them. Add the perfect waves and you get this picturesque scenery.

Beginner and intermediate surfers can learn and improve their surfing skills at Baby Padang, while more advanced surfers can get the barrels of their lives at the main peak, also called the “Balinese pipeline”. Today it was all about improving wave catching, turning and having a good time.

Toro-Toro was great this morning! We arrived just after sunrise and got in the water with nobody else out there. Glassy conditions with shoulder-high sets coming in consistently. The sunny weather and the amazing waves made everyone happy.

Because of how the waves are breaking, it is the perfect spot to practice basic maneuvers like bottom and top turns. The A-frame provides right and left-handers where you can do plenty of turns. It is a surf break suitable for a wide range of surfing skills, from intermediate to advanced surfers, everyone can have a fun and progressive session here.
