Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

For many surfers, a typical morning in paradise starts with an early surf session at one of Indonesia’s best surf breaks. Crystal clear water, stunning scenery, and fun waves give you the motivation you need to get out of bed and start the day. We are blessed with very consistent surf conditions all year long, and this makes Bali one of the world’s best destinations for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers.

Uluwatu is mostly known for its perfect, overhead waves during the peak months of July & August. But on a day like today, when the waves aren’t as powerful and big, it is a great spot for intermediate surfers who want a new challenge to improve their surfing skills. The shoulder- to head high waves are perfect for practicing bottom and top turns and if you’re lucky, you may get your first barrel.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

In Bali, we are blessed with perfect surf conditions year-round. If you know where to go, you can surf clean waves almost every day. This does not mean that surfing in choppy conditions can’t be fun too! The westerly wind today made the waves a little rough and more difficult to read as usual. If you don’t mind an increase in difficulty, you will be amazed at how many waves you catch despite the windy conditions.

Less perfect conditions mean fewer crowds and therefore more opportunities to catch waves and improve your surfing skills. Navigating the surfboard in choppy water strengthens your core muscles and improves your balance on the board. Once you get used to surfing in those waves, next time when it’s clean and perfect again, your surfing skills will be on the next level.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

The swell was picking up today and this draws surfers from all over Bali down to Uluwatu and Padang Padang for the weekend. On a sunny Sunday morning with very light wind, it is highly recommended to spend time in the ocean catching waves. Surfing is not only fun but can also help you relax and clear your head. There isn’t much else to think about when you are standing on the surfboard, riding along the waves.

When you start your surfing career, being out in the water with other surfers can be intimidating. It is important to know how to handle the surfboard correctly and what to do in certain situations. A great instructor will help you find the confidence you need to navigate your way through the line-up, and to be able to catch the waves you want.

Progress comes from practice and dedication to push yourself further every session. In surfing, it is not only the technique you will improve, but also your knowledge about the ocean and your wave reading skills. Every time you paddle out and catch waves you will improve a little more.

After mastering the pop-up, it is time to start turning the board and surf the wave in one direction. At the surf spot “Baby Padang”, the wave breaks perfectly in both directions and you can choose if you want to go left or right. Learning how to turn the surfboard is a crucial step to becoming an intermediate surfer. Once you are able to do this, surfing will be even more fun!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Geger

The new swell arrived today and finally brought us bigger waves again. With almost no wind at all, the south and east sides of the Bukit were favoured by most of the surfers, leaving Nusa Dua uncrowded. We took the opportunity of a nearly empty line-up to choose the best waves of the sets, so far had the best session of this week.

The big channel makes it easy to get out to the line-up. If it is like today, with almost nobody else there, you can catch as many waves as you can paddle for. A high wave count means more practice, the more practice you get the faster you will improve your surfing skills.
