Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Fun beginner surfing conditions this morning at the beautiful Padang Padang Beach! The waves were in the shoulder-high range, with mostly clean faces despite some initial chop caused by west winds overnight. The conditions cleaned up as the session progressed. The tide was good for both lefts and rights to break consistently along the reef, offering plenty of opportunities to practice.

Surfers focused on refining their pop-up and transitioning into the functional stance—an essential skill for progressing beyond the beginner stage. Mastering this allows for smoother rides with better control and speed from the top of the wave. See you out there!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Beautiful beginner surf conditions this morning! Our developing surfers enjoyed shoulder-high waves with a touch of offshore wind- exactly what a beginner surfer needs for a memorable day in the line-up! The waves were just the right size for the surfers to learn to ride down the line, stay in the power source of the wave, and begin to do turns.

Several key characteristics make Baby Padang such a great beginners’ wave. The waves break at a consistently slow pace, which allows for ample time for the surfer to learn to make adjustments on the wave. The waves are all similar in shape. And the channel makes paddling a whole lot easier.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our beginner surfers enjoyed excellent surfing conditions at Baby Padang this morning! The waves were in the shoulder-high range, the wind was blowing offshore, the water was the perfect temperature, and the tide was in a good range. The surfers worked on identifying the feeling of the surfboard beginning to plane on the wave, which is the signal to initiate your pop-up.

Knowing when to pop-up on the surfboard is a key skill every surfer must learn. If you stand up too early, the wave will pass underneath you, and if you stand up too late, you will miss the opportunity to control the board from the top of the wave.

Beginner Surf Lessons at The Bukit

With plenty of swell still in the ocean, our beginner surfers headed to a more protected break for a fun session. The waves were about shoulder high, with just a touch of offshore wind blowing through the lineup. The sea state was calm, and the water was balmy. This right-breaking wave offered slow, easy rides, allowing the surfers plenty of time to catch the wave and get going down the line. The wave face had a user-friendly slope to it, which is excellent for learning to surf.

We have about a month left of the dry season. After this, we will enter the quiet season featuring light, variable winds and smaller swells.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our group of beginner surfers had a great morning at Baby Padang. The surfers paddled out into fun-sized left and rights, eager to enjoy the thrill of harnessing the power of the waves. The surf was in the wist-high range with a few bigger sets, thanks to an incoming large swell. The August trade wind was ever present, blowing straight offshore into the waves. The sun was shining, the vibes were fun, and everyone had a great time.

The surfers worked on getting into the functional stance from the pop-up and the basics of turning, which are the first techniques that need to be learned once you are up and riding.
