Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our group of beginner surfers had a great morning at Baby Padang. The surfers paddled out into fun-sized left and rights, eager to enjoy the thrill of harnessing the power of the waves. The surf was in the wist-high range with a few bigger sets, thanks to an incoming large swell. The August trade wind was ever present, blowing straight offshore into the waves. The sun was shining, the vibes were fun, and everyone had a great time.

The surfers worked on getting into the functional stance from the pop-up and the basics of turning, which are the first techniques that need to be learned once you are up and riding.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Dreamland

Our beginner surfers had a great morning surfing the slow, mellow waves at Dreamland. With plenty of swell still hanging around, our surfers stuck to the outside left, an easier wave compared to Dreamland’s well-known A-frame peak. The wind was light offshore, the sea state calm, and the conditions beautiful. The surfers worked on getting into the functional stance, which is a key skill set to learn when just beginning your surfing journey.

However, practice in the lineup alone isn’t enough to make real improvements quickly. Back at the surf camp, our surfers will review their session’s video with our head coach. He will analyze their performance and provide targeted feedback for further development.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

A new, powerful swell has arrived, lighting up the breaks on Bali’s coastlines. At Padang Padang, our beginner surfers enjoyed a very fun morning learning to surf at Bali’s best beginner wave! The waves were mostly about shoulder high, with a few larger set waves breaking farther outside. The wind was blowing lightly offshore, and the conditions were clean and fun. The rights were particularily good today, beaking at just the right pace for a surfer to learn to ride the waves with balance and control.

Later this afternoon, the conditions will be perfect for the famous left-hand barrels at Padang Padang. Head down the beach, grab a cocunut, and enjoy the show!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Fun waves this morning at Padang Padang! The swell has dropped to a very friendly size, with most of the waves in the shoulder-high range. The tradewind was blowing strongly, however, the offshore direction of the wind held up the waves for longer before breaking. Days like today are exactly what a new surfer needs to develop their surfing.

The surfers worked on getting into the functional stance directly from the pop-up, which is a key step towards progressing beyond a beginner level. Once you have developed the ability to ride the wave in the functional stance from the pop-up, you unlock a new level of control and confidence. See you out there!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

This morning, our beginner surfers rose to some inclement weather, but a bit of rain did not hold them back from having a great session. At Padang Padang, the waves were in the shoulder-high range with a few bigger set waves. The wind was blowing stronger than it normally does offshore. The lefts were particularly good this morning, providing a fast wall which reformed nicely into extended rides. The rights were still offering fun, easy rides. But, today was a day to go left.

The rain added a refreshing touch to the vibrant island, enhancing the lush greenery around the beach. Despite the weather, the energy was high, and everyone was enjoying the surf.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our beginner surfers enjoyed a truly stunning morning out in the lineup! The waves were just the right size, the wind was blowing offshore, and the water was an inviting temperature. The surf was mostly in the shoulder-high range, with plenty of waves breaking both left and right. The rights offered a slow-moving, tapered wall to work with. The lefts required more speed to get down the line, yet the waves reformed nicely into extended rides.

The surfers focused on positioning their feet over the centerline of the surfboard, a critical element of the functional surfing stance. Once you are able to get your feet centred, your balance and control will improve dramatically.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Balangan

Today is a small wave day in Bali, but the session at Balangan was still plenty of fun! With warm water and beautiful scenery, going surfing is always worth the effort. This morning, the weather was mixed with cloud cover and shifting winds, yet the waves remained clean and organized. Our surfers hit the lineup as soon as there was enough tide over the reef. The waist-to-shoulder high surf broke in well-formed, tapered lines and at a good pace for surfers to find their balance and ride down the line.

There is always a wave somewhere on the Bukit Peninsula. When the surf drops in size, the more exposed breaks will still have fun waves.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

Plenty of swell in the water at the moment, and certainly no shortage of action! Our beginner group surfed the protected waves at Baby Padang, while the intermediate and advanced group surfed the reefs near the airport. At Padang Padang, the waves were in the overhead range on the outside, and reforming nicely into waist-high waves on the inside. The wind was light offshore, and some cloud cover protected the surfers from the sun. The more skilful surfers waited for the bigger rights outside, which offered a friendly shoulder to ride. The less experienced rode the inside reform waves, which offered easy takeoffs and lengthy rides.

Lots of swell on the surf forecast! Much more to come!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

More fun waves at Baby Padang this morning! There were a few big sets left over from the large swell, but the surf has mostly calmed down to a more user-friendly size. The waves were in the head-high range, with some overhead sets breaking further outside the lineup. The wind was light offshore, and the conditions were clean. Some surfers opted to stick to the white water, while the others sat outside the lineup waiting for the bigger sets. The surfers on the inside focused on their pop-ups and functional stance, while the surfers on the outside worked on confidence and control.

It is going to be another great day in the lineup tomorrow! See you out there!
