Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

The rainy season is knocking on our doors early this year. With a lot of positive things, like glassy mornings and evenings, there are also some downsides to it. Sometimes after heavy rain showers, the water can get an unusual color. This only lasts for a couple of hours most of the time until the current and waves wash it away.

Nevertheless, the waves were good and everyone had some amazing rides this morning. From tomorrow, we are looking into a sunny future again, and hopefully, the weather report delivers what it promises. We can’t wait to surf more of Uluwatu’s perfect lefts and other surf spots around this area of Bali. There are so many more waves to discover during the rainy season. The east side of Bali is full of right-handers that are just waiting to be surfed.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

The playful size of the waves today made us go to Uluwatu again. Shoulder-high but clean and perfectly breaking, the left-handers were great for our advanced surfers.

The wind is still off-shore for most of the day. Because of that and the low tide early on, we decided to go after breakfast this time. With a small swell like this and the wind coming from the east, Uluwatu is the best place to be. Soon we will have high tide in the morning and we are excited to go to the south of the Bukit to places like Green Bowl and Pandawa. When the waves are small, there you can find head-high sets that come in consistently.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

After a few days of cloudy weather and long-awaited rain, the sun is shining again and the waves are perfect as usual. Crystal clear, blue water and white sand beaches, Padang Padang is a picturesque beach. Combined with the beginner-friendly waves, this makes a perfect spot for learning how to surf and relax.

The waves are expected to get slightly bigger on Monday again and we are looking forward to head-high surf the whole coming week. October is a great month to visit Bali. The waves are not that huge anymore and with the occasional overcast weather, the temperature during the day is very comfortable. Great for beginner and intermediate surfers to take their first steps and improve their surfing skills as well as for beachgoers and sunseekers.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

5* intermediate surf lessons

Another perfect day in the Island of the Gods. The swell was a little bit bigger today and perfect size for novice surfers at our home break of Padang Padang rights, also known as baby Padang. This is perhaps the most beautiful beach in Bali, and it never goes flat. When the swell is very small the waves can be very slow coming, and when too big the current is strong. Today was excellent conditions for beginner and intermediate surfers as plenty of waves and not too big. The right is a short tide into the channel and an easy paddle back out, while the left can be quite long and goes into deep water.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu surely was the best choice this morning to surf for our advanced group. The swell dropped overnight and we were greeted with shoulder-high, clean left-handers. With the incoming tide, sets were coming constantly and everyone got plenty of waves.

Timing is key if you want to surf Uluwatu with the best possible conditions. The tide can make or break your session. If there is too much water over the reef, the waves get too soft and if it is too low, it gets very shallow. Our local surf guides know what times are best and can guide you through the lineup to get the best suitable waves for your skill level. From intermediate to advanced surfers, everyone can have a great session at Uluwatu when going in the right conditions!

Intermediate surf guiding at Balangan

Balangan is one of our favorite surf spots in Bali. Not for no reason, the beach is amazing and the waves are just perfect for our intermediate and advanced groups. Today, the swell was a little smaller than yesterday, but the waves were still great and with just a few other surfers in the water, we were able to catch many waves.

To make the most out of your surfing holiday and to improve your skills as fast as possible, having consistent surf conditions every day is a key aspect. The waves don’t have to be double overhead to have fun and progress. A perfectly breaking, hip-high wave often is better than a fast-breaking hollow freight train. Smaller waves, like these, give you more opportunities to do turns and to work on your technique. That is what will bring your surfing skills to the next level.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Unusually small swell in Bali but there are always waves to be found at Uluwatu. The season is slowly changing and instead of a consistent strong offshore wind, the wind is now light and variable. October is a good time to explore surf breaks on the south coast and east coast, which breaks up the crowds and also offers some variety of surf spots.

A light onshore wind and waves shoulder-head high but still some power and very good wave quality. It’s only very small for 1 day and tomorrow we are looking forward to a 15 second west swell.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu was great this morning due to the slightly bigger swell that had arrived overnight. Clean, long left-handers all morning long and only a handful of other surfers out there. This is how we like to wake up, jumping into lukewarm water with perfect waves in front of us.

As the season is changing, so does the wind direction. Now, glassy conditions in the mornings are the norm and off-shore wind conditions in the afternoon and evenings. Soon, the wind direction will change and come from the west. Then, Nusa Dua and the east side of the Island will be on our radar. Many great surf spots await us there, and every regular footer will love the right-hander buffet Bali has to offer.
