Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate group travelled the short distance to Uluwatu this morning for the first session of surfing lessons where they were greeted by very clean waves in the waist to shoulder-high range.

Although world-famous Uluwatu is known for it’s advanced-level waves, when the swell is smaller, it’s also the perfect playground for less experienced surfers — as our group found out today!

The current weather patterns continue to please everybody with sunny skies and winds that are ideal for some of our favourite surf breaks close to the surf camp. Just like the dry season but without the crowds!

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Balangan, Bali

After a couple of days out on the boat our beginner and intermediate groups got things started from dry land this morning with a trip to sunny Balangan beach for their first session of morning group surf lessons.

Waves were a little tricky — breaking quickly and not perfectly clean — but the group had lots of fun practising their popups and bottom turns.

Elsewhere at the surf camp our other beginners group surfed at Padang Padang for their two sessions, just a stone’s throw from the surf camp.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons and Guiding at Toro Toro, Bali

Our beginner and intermediate group were lucky enough to enjoy Toro Toro at dawn this morning for the second day in a row. The swell had dropped slightly overnight but the lower tide meant the super playful and glassy waves were still breaking in the waist to shoulder-high range.

After a while, our group was joined in the water by a couple of other boats of surfers but there were still loads of waves to go around and everybody got their fill of long rides before heading back to camp for breakfast.

Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Toro Toro, Bali

Our intermediate group had the pleasure of surfing at camp favourite Toro Toro this morning for their first session of group lessons today — much to everyone’s delight.

As dawn broke and the sun rose over Bali, our surfers were taking advantage of the glassy waist to shoulder-high conditions out next to the airport runway and all catching lots of long rides.

As the swell is quite large today and the wind is still favourable, the group will surf at Padang Padang — our closest beach — for their second session of the day before returning to camp for their delicious daily lunchtime feast.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Black Stone, Bali

After a last-minute change of plan, our ever-adaptable surf instructors took our beginner and intermediate groups over to Black Stone at Nusa Dua this morning for their first session of group and private surf lessons.

With the wind having swung around, our local spots weren’t breaking as cleanly as expected but on the other side of the Bukit peninsular wind was light and offshore and the waves were lovely and clean.

Waves were breaking in the knee to chest high range and everybody had a great session.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding and Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate and advanced groups were back in action at Uluwatu again this morning for their first session of surf guiding and Group lessons.

Waves were breaking in the waist to shoulder-high range and the wind was light — resulting in some nice clean waves for our surfers to practice their turns on.

Elsewhere at the surf camp this morning our Beginners group enjoyed their surf lessons at Padang padang this morning. Fun and chill. It was a great surfing session.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding and Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate and advanced surf guiding group headed to Uluwatu at dawn today for their first session of the day where the sun was shining, the wind was nice and light and relatively thin crowds.

It’s a common misconception that surf lessons are mainly for beginners but the positional advice and coaching is hugely valuable at breaks like Uluwatu where the benefit of local knowlege equals a much higher wave count.

Swell height was similar to yesterday with waves ranging from chest high to overhead on the larger sets and everybody caught plenty of waves — especially those having lessons and benefiting from the guidance of their expert instructor.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons and Guiding at Geger Left, Bali

Our beginner and intermediates joined forces to surf at Geger Left for their first session of the day where the sun was shining and the wind was nice and light.

As the knee to chest-high waves peeled down the reef, many great rides were enjoyed and everybody had a fun session.

After breakfast the group moved down the road to the centre of Nusa Dua to surf at Black Stone and on the way passed our advanced surf guiding group who surfed twice at Geger Right.
