Intermediate and Advanced Surf Lessons and Guiding at Greenbowl, Bali

One of the great things about being located on the Bukit peninsular is how easy it is to change coastline depending on swell and wind-direction, so regardless of the conditions, we’ll always find the best waves around.

Swell height had dropped overnight so it was a change of plan from the scheduled session at Uluwatu as our intermediate and advanced surfers made their way down the Greenbowl steps for their morning surf today.

Sets were hitting the Greenbowl reef in the shoulder to head-high range and all of our surfers enjoyed plenty of long rides.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding and Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

It was another beautiful dawn session for our intermediate and advanced surfers this morning down the road at Uluwatu.

With the mid-tide window of opportunity coinciding with first light, our surfers were among the first in the water for their lessons and surf guiding, and everybody enjoyed lots of long rides.

Wave height was coming through in the chest to head-high range and we’re already looking forward to tomorrow morning where the swell will be a little larger than today and the tide times will be even better.

Intermediate Surf Lessons and Guiding at Middle Reef, Bali

In anticipation of the arrival of some new swell, our intermediate group jumped aboard the boat for Toro Toro this morning.
On arrival, wave height wasn’t as expected so they continued past the airport runway to check the other airport reefs, settling on Middle Reef as the wave of choice with the best combination of size and other surfers in the water.

Waves were coming through this morning in the waist to shoulder-high range and a perfect opportunity for our intermediate surfers to practise generating speed down the line.

After breakfast back at camp, our intermediates surfed their second session at Dreamland while our beginners enjoyed a very quiet Padang Padang to themselves for the first session and returned there again later in the morning.

Intermediate and Advanced Surfing Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

After the welcome arrival of some new swell yesterday, our intermediate and advanced groups were back at Uluwatu for this morning’s dawn patrol.

Waves were slow at times but as the session went on, they grew in size and consistency and there were plenty of waves on offer to keep everybody happy and suitably challenged.

After a slightly cloudy start to the day, the sun is beaming again and wet season continues to hold off — much to everyone’s delight!

After breakfast, our intermediate and advanced groups split and surfed at Greenball and Dreamland, while our beginners who surfed at Padang Padang this morning also had their second session at Dreamland.

Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Uluwatu, Bali

Today is the perfect day for  intermediate surfers to learn and to improve surfing skills here in Bali. This morning our intermediate group headed to Uluwatu to have surf lessons there. Conditions are excellent today, bright sunny day with fresh offshore wind, so everything promised really fun session. Swell is smaller  than yesterday and waves are clean, chest high to shoulder high size. Super fun and perfect for our surfers to exhibit their surf skills.

Beginner and Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Balangan, Bali

Balangan was the location chosen by our expert instructors and spot selectors for today’s beginner and intermediate surfing lessons.

Like many of the breaks in the surf camp’s local area, the different sections of the Balangan reef have distinct characteristics which are each suited to different ability levels. This means that, on days like today, both beginner and intermediate surfers can enjoy waves that are perfectly suited to each of them at the same beach.

Waves were coming through between knee and head-high today and everybody had a lot of fun in the November morning sun.

Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Temple, Bali

At the far end of the Uluwatu line up, under the shadow of the famous 11th-century temple perched on top of the 70m high cliffs lies its namesake wave — Temples. This spot is a favourite with our guests thanks to its long glassy walls and its crowd-unfriendly location.

It’s possible to access the wave by walking along the reef at low tide but our favourite way is to travel in style by taking the boat from Padang Padang, which is what our intermediate group of surfers did today for their morning lessons.

Waves were coming through in the shoulder to overhead range and everyone enjoyed a fun and uncrowded session before heading back to camp for breakfast.

Intermediate Surfing Lessons at Balangan, Bali

Today our intermediate group ventured to Balangan for both of their morning surf lessons. Palm-fringed with white sand, Balangan is one of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast of the Bukit peninsular and just being there is an experience of its own.

There was a little wind but waves were still clean and all of our surfers were making great progress riding along Balangan’s green faces as waves were arriving in the waist to shoulder-high range.

After their surf lessons, everybody headed back to camp for our delicious weekly BBQ which was well deserved!

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Lessons and Guiding at Temple, Bali

It was all aboard the boat to Temples for our intermediate and advanced groups this morning as they headed out at dawn to one of our guests’ favourite spots.

Always thin on crowds due to the long walk or even longer paddle, Temples is just a short boat trip from Padang Padang and a fun way to start the day — enjoying a view of the Uluwatu coastline from a different perspective as the sun rises.

This morning the crowd was as thin as ever as waves were coming through in the shoulder-high to overhead range and everyone had their fill of long lefts before heading back to camp for breakfast.
