Beginner Surf Lessons at Pandawa

The new year welcomed us with offshore winds and shoulder high set waves at one of our favourite surf breaks on the Bukit. A not too big and friendly crowd made this session very enjoyable. Among the local rippers were some of Indonesia’s best surfers. Just seeing these talents fly through the air and doing massive turns on such waves, is just incredible.

Not only did the Pros have fun, but many other surfers, experts and intermediates were having lots of waves to practise their surfing skills. On this kind of wave, you need to be able to generate lots of speed to make it around the section and onto the clean face of the wave. Once there, enjoy the ride!

Intermediate surf guiding at Geger

After a few days of Christmas celebrations, we were enjoying the east coast of Bali again. Today, Nusa Dua was the best place to go due to the strong wind from the west. Even though the waves were not that big, they had enough power to give you a fast and challenging ride. Steep, head high walls and offshore wind conditions made the waves perfectly suitable for airs and quick turns.

The upcoming week looks very similar in terms of surf conditions. With the wind blowing from the west and the swell dropping tomorrow, Geger will be the go-to spot for many surfers on the Bukit.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

What a fun morning session this was today! Sunny weather, a clear sky, and clean surfing conditions made it a perfect start to the day. Long, silky smooth waves were peeling over the reef at Uluwatu, and everyone out there was having a blast.

Days like today are what make surfing in Bali so special. Besides the great waves, the clear water, and colorful fish underneath you in the line-up are the cherries on top. With the wind coming from the west and picking up tomorrow, the surfing conditions will most likely be best on the east coast again.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Catching your first green wave is an experience you will never forget. The moment you stand up on the board and drop down the clean face of the wave, you just focus on the here and now. The feeling you get back up on your board after the longest ride of your life is even better.

A big south swell is expected to arrive today and although most of the surf spots in the Bukit will be quite big, this one right here still offers the perfect learning conditions due to its sheltered location.
Bali has many great surf spots for beginners where you can have your first experiences like this, but here at Baby Padang, it is one of the best if not the best!

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

With a slightly bigger swell and no wind at all, the waves were perfectly clean this morning at Baby Padang. This wave is an excellent playground for beginner and intermediate surfers who want to improve their surfing skills. Not only can you catch your first “green” or unbroken wave here, but also enjoy the nature and scenery around the cove.

Although this wave is mostly occupied by beginner and intermediate surfers, on bigger days you should not underestimate the power of the currents. A deep channel helps you to get out to the line-up fast, but also can make you paddle a lot more than usual.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Uluwatu was the right choice today. A medium period swell with 13 seconds and five feet was enough to give the waves some punch. On a day like this, different peaks offer plenty of waves to choose from.

Clean, fast breaking waves were the perfect playground to push your surfing skills to the next level. The forecast predicts light wind for the rest of the week, with rising swell on Saturday we expect to have some great surf sessions.

Intermediate surf guiding at Mengiat

Very light winds this morning but Uluwatu was a bit messy and Bingin was too small. We decided to drive the 20 minutes over to Nusa Dua where it was sunny and light offshore winds, and decided on Mengiat for a change. Only 3 people in the water and breaking very good at the start of the session. Crowd got up to a maximum of around 6 or 7 people and there were plenty of head high waves for everyone.

The wave is an A frame peak breaking left and right, and quite “peaky and bowly” due to shallow water on the reef, and deep water at the edge of the reef. It’s similar to some of the breaks at Mentawais and in a very beautiful location. The lefts are more user friendly as takes you into a channel with the current helping you get back into the spot. There is quite a lot of current running down from Geger, so the rights are harder work as you got to paddle against the current to get into position. A bunch of good lefts was the order of the day.

Intermediate surf guiding at Geger Left

What a great late-morning surf session today! Nusa Dua lived up to it’s expectations and offshore wind conditions made the waves perfect. Long, clean faces of the waves offered plenty of opportunities for airs, big turns and even some barrels.

With a bigger swell arriving tomorrow and a change of wind direction on Tuesday, the whole next week looks very promising.

Intermediate surf guiding at Geger Left

A medium size swell from the south and wind from the west are good indicators, that the east coast is the place to go today. Nusa Dua is known for it’s clean water, white sand beaches and long perfect waves. With a gentle to moderate offshore wind blowing, the left breaking wave at Geger was the perfect choice.

Clean walls and steep sections of the wave offered great opportunities for big turns and the occasional air. Steep, fast take-offs and en even faster inside section make this wave so fun, but challenging to ride. With consistent, shoulder- to head high sets, every surfer out in the line-up got enough waves to be stoked for the rest of the day.
