Bali Surf Report and Surf Forecast

Swell size was again smaller than expected from forecast, but perfect size for Bingin. At beginning of the session the waves were slow coming and a very strong offshore wind. As the tide dropped the waves came more frequently and the wind dropped off. Bingin can handle the strongest wind as it is tucked under the high Bukit cliffs. A cross offshore wind works good here as it holds up the barrel, but does not affect the wave quality as close to the shore. Another perfect day of surfing in Bali.

The swell was a bit smaller than expected today, and hard choice to pick the right spot. We decided on Bingin which is a perfect machine wave as was relatively uncrowded. Set waves were perfect size for Bingin (overhead) and the smaller shoulder-head high waves were still fun and throwing little barrels. Surf is expected to bump up in size tomorrow, and all breaks from Uluwatu to Balanagan will be firing all weekend.

Head high, perfect waves at Bali’s premier surf spot this morning. We were the first ones out this morning and it was worth the early start to get a few rides before anyone else paddled out. As the morning progressed, there were more people coming, but we were already heading back for breakfast by 8am. Surf is forecast to pick up this afternoon and will be pumping until Monday.

Swell is a little bit smaller today, but also cleaner conditions and less crowded. The waves were a bit slow coming today and not many good ones, but always at Uluwatu there were a few perfect long rides to be had. It is forecast to be much smaller tomorrow, but there will be another solid swell arriving Thursday and lasting throughout the weekend.

Smaller swell today and mostly head high waves, with the occasional bigger set. Waves were quite soft today and perfect conditions for intermediates to practice turns. The peak was not breaking good today, but the racetrack had some fun waves coming through. Light offshore winds and partially sunny.

The swell was quite small at 6am and it looked like Uluwatu would be the go, but as the tide came in the new swell arrived and there were some solid sets coming through. We decided on Impossibles for a change and was very good at start of the session. Around 9am the wind came on strong, and many of the waves were too fast. There was some bombs that were not too fast. The trick as Impossibles is to pick the wave with a short line as these break the slowest. Long line waves are too fast.

Uluwatu today the condition of the waves is small than yesterday. The wind was medium strength, but blowing straight offshore so clean, quality waves on all sections of Uluwatu from Temples down to the Racetrack. Not very powerful waves today, which is great conditions for advanced surfer to improve their surfing technique.

When conditions are right, Uluwatu is one of the best world class waves in the area. Today the spot provided perfect conditions for intermediate looking to improve. Its a great improvement spot for learning carving, pop up quickly and pumping. The waves there are longer and clean. The wind in this season is offshore everyday, so we can enjoy surfing all day.
