Beginner Surf Lessons at Balangan

Smaller surf this morning but plenty of great beginner waves to go around! Our beginners paddled out to Padang Padang very early, beating the sunshine and the crowds. The surf has dropped to the waist-high range, with a few bigger sets for those waiting farthest out in the lineup. The wind was light offshore, and the surface of the ocean was very clean. Small and easy days like today are perfect for correcting your technique, as the waves are moving slower than they normally would.

A developing surf can progress much faster if they focus on the fundamentals. Learning how to paddle efficiently, the functional surfing stance, and the basics of turning are key concepts that you will learn when you surf with us.

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Fun waves this morning! The swell has continued to drop in size and consistency since yesterday however there were plenty of fun waves to be had. Our intermediate surfers paddled out to the Race Track at Uluwatu, which is famous for its long lines and consistent waves. The wind was blowing lightly offshore, and ocean was very smooth and clear for the session. The waves were in the head-high range, and the conditions were very clean. The surfers who were quick to their feet were able to get some long rides.

Small wave days are still plenty of fun at Uluwatu. The waves still run beautifully down the reef, and they can continue for much longer than you would expect.

Intermediate surf guiding at Dreamland

We have a fresh bump in swell this morning with an offshore wind and cooler water temps. The new, longer-period swell brought in fast-moving and powerful waves, which will test a surfer’s skill and confidence. Our intermediate group surfed at Dreamland at first light in head-high surf with a few larger sets. As always at Dreamland, the conditions and scenery were beautiful- turquoise water, a pretty sandy beach, and the sun rising over the cliff.

The steady trade wind and cooler water temps are typical dry season conditions. The month of May generally enjoys light and variable wind in the early morning and is before the water gets cold and the swells consistently large. See you in the lineup!

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

We are back at Uluwatu for a second session after surfing the long rides at Airport Left for our early session. There is still plenty of swell left in the water from yesterday’s big swell, but the waves are a much more manageable size. The offshore wind picked up to a moderate strength, which kept the waves open for long rides. The surf remained in the head-high to overhead range, with many smaller waves for the less experienced surfers to select from. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the session.

The trade wind has arrived for the season, which means you can expect offshore wind nearly daily through November. There will be no shortage of swell, and some incredible days of surfing coming up.

Intermediate surf guiding at Padang Padang

We have a lot of swell today with big waves breaking across the Island. Our intermediate surfers paddled out to Padang Padang, where they found overhead, fun waves, breaking in much safer conditions. The wind was blowing lightly offshore, which is the desired wind direction for optimal surfing conditions. The rights were breaking at a nice pace for developing control and confidence in the bigger surf. The lefts were breaking faster, and provided long rides for those able to trim or pump their boards for speed down the line.

We are in the full swing of dry season conditions now. The water is starting to get cooler, the wind is blowing relaibly offshore everyday, and the swells are getting larger.

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our beginner surfers enjoyed a fun session at Padang Padang this morning! The surfers braved an early morning rain shower, and were rewarded with excellent surf. The waves have dropped in size since yesterday, with the biggest of set waves around head-high. The wind was blowing lightly offshore. The waves were clean and fun, and were breaking in clean, long lines. The waves were moving at just the right pace for beginner surfing, with the rights moving at a slower pace than the lefts.

The surfers worked on learning to ride the waves in the functional stance, which is the key to surfing progression. Surfing with the functional stance is the key to making progress as a surfer. See you in the line-up!

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

Perfect surf at Uluwatu this morning! The waves were just the right size, the wind was light offshore, and the tide was in its ideal range, making a morning filled with waves to write home about. The sets all had several waves each, and there were plenty of smaller waves in between. The best of the rides linked up all the way to the big rock at the end of the reef!

The thing about Uluwatu is that even a small wave can run for hundreds of meters. The key is being able to select these waves from the mix, and being in the right spot at the right time. These are things you will learn when you surf with us. See you out there

Beginner Surf Lessons at Padang Padang

Our beginner surfers enjoyed a fun morning out in the line-up. Despite the stiff offshore breeze, our surfers all had a great time and got plenty of waves! The surf was in the head-high range with a few larger set waves. The long-period swell and the stronger wind blowing against the waves meant for long rides with open wave faces. The surfers worked on getting to their feet in control of their surfboard, and on-time, in the challenging conditions.

When the conditions are tougher, your technique, or lack thereof, really comes to the forefront. Days like these are helpful to make clear what aspects of surfing you need to improve upon and what you do well. See you in the line-up!

Intermediate surf guiding at Uluwatu

What a morning it was at Uluwatu! A fresh bump in the swell, an offshore wind, and clean conditions made for an excellent morning in the lineup. The surf was in the overhead range with a few larger set waves. The sea state was clean and the waves were long, with of the longest of tides reaching the big rock at the end of the reef. The tide was moving quickly , so it was important that you did not show up late.

We are entering into our favorite time of year when the wind blows offshore all day and the surf never goes flat. Come and join us for some excellent waves and a great time.
