Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

We headed to Impossibles for an early uncrowded session at dawn this morning which started with the whole break to ourselves.

The shoulder to head-high waves were as speedy as usual but with perfect sunny weather, it was a great way to start the day.

Tomorrow’s swell should be a little smaller so safe to venture out to the Bukit peninsular’s more exposed reefs again for more fun!

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

The conditions for this morning’s intermediate surf guiding session weren’t quite up the very high standards we’re accustomed to here in Bali

Up the road, Uluwatu had a little too much size, so we tried our luck at Impossibles where there wasn’t quite enough swell for it to be a five-star day and the changeable wind direction took off another star.

Having said that, there were few people in the water and even though the waves weren’t perfectly clean, there were some long racey walls on offer and plenty of waves for everyone.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

Yesterday’s swell had dropped significantly overnight but there were plenty of waves on offer and only three other surfers in the water when our intermediate and advanced guiding group paddled out at Impossibles for the late morning session

Waves were breaking around head-high and improved in quality as the tide pulled out with long racy walls in the sun for everyone to enjoy

The swell is expected to fade further overnight but there will be plenty around tomorrow still for all of the premier breaks in the local area to be firing again

Advanced Surf Guiding at Balangan and Impossibles, Bali

With the swell peaking this morning, the south coast spots were maxed-out as expected, so we headed for the cover of the Bukit Peninsular’s west coast

Even at more sheltered spots, the waves were breaking well overhead with a tow crew in the water at Balangan. Our advanced group settled on Impossibles as the spot to surf at where the large swell was serving up huge green walls and long, leg-aching rides.

After a low-tide sunset session at famous Padang Padang this afternoon, the swell should start to decline for another day of great waves tomorrow.

Advanced Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

With a large swell hitting Bali at the moment, Impossibles has rumbled into life — breaking at a size where the infamously fast sections from which it derives its name become a little more makeable

Waves were breaking today between head high and a foot or two overhead with long racy green walls rewarding the advanced surfers who’d paddled out

The current swell is expected to peak this afternoon before settling down to more intermediate-friendly size over the weekend and into next week

Impossibles and Bingin Surf Check and Report

It wasn’t obvious where the optimal waves on the Bukit would be breaking this morning so we took the camera on a trip up and down the coast to check in at a few of the world-class surf spots that are located within just a mile or so of the surf camp.

With a solid swell still in the water, Uluwatu was breaking at a challenging size and either the conditions weren’t good enough or everybody was surfed out as there was nobody in the water.

Next stop was Padang Padang where, although the swell wasn’t quite big enough, a couple of surfers were having a go.

We stopped to Impossibles to take a few photos were the fast sections were being typically difficult to race past and finally settled at Bingin where there were some lovely glass waves breaking between chest and just over head-high

It’s never too early to start planning your next trip to Bali, so until we can welcome you back, we hope you’ll continue to check our regular surf reports, and for news on the situation here, you should follow our updates over on Facebook

Advanced Surf Guiding at Impossibles, Bali

We headed to Impossibles this morning for the first session of the day where the sun was shining and the wind was blowing just a little harder than would have been ideal

Waves were breaking between chest and head high with a couple of overhead sets giving the surfers more of an opportunity to race past those infamous tricky sections

Although the breeze was fairly strong, it was in a favourable direction so conditions were nice and clean for the small group of surfers out enjoying their sessions

Padang Padang Sundown Session

With Bali’s official reopening scheduled for July 9th and international routes starting to open up across the world, it’s time to start planning your next trip here!

We took the camera along with us this evening to one of our favourite local spots where the only thing better than the cocktails is the view.

With a very solid swell hitting Bali at the moment, the world-famous Padang Padang left-hander was throwing out some sizeable barrels which were being skillfully navigated by a crowd of around ten.

In the opposite direction, some chunky sets were rolling down the Impossibles reef in the ‘well overhead’ range with surfers enjoying some leg-achingly-long rides.

We’re too busy enjoying the uncrowded world-class waves for now so our regular daily surf report remains on hold but keep your eyes peeled for more regular updates soon.
