Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

There was an increase in swell height overnight so Uluwatu wasn’t suitable for the intermediates today, but it was perfect for the advanced surfers

The sun was out and conditions were very clean as waves were breaking around head-high to a foot or two overhead with a light offshore breeze

Wave height is going to continue to increase throughout the day and tomorrow should see some of the more sheltered spots come alive, including Padang Padang

Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

The sun was shining and the wind was light for another morning of perfect surf down the road at Uluwatu today.

This morning’s conditions were glassy and clean with very light wind as waves were breaking up and down all sections of the reef in the shoulder-high to over head range.

Tomorrow’s conditions are expected to be smaller again so possibly even a chance for the lower intermediates and beginners to enjoy one of Bali’s most famous waves.

Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Everybody was eagerly awaiting the arrival of this morning’s new swell. At dawn there still wasn’t much showing but by mid-morning, waves had started picking up for our advanced group’s session at Uluwatu

At the start of the session there was fun waves running down the reef around chest-high but a couple of hours later, the swell had increased significantly with clean conditions, long powerful waves and plenty of barrels being enjoyed well into the afternoon.

With the swell continuing to build, we’ll be heading for some more sheltered breaks tomorrow and there will be plenty of options available for the beginners and intermediates too

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

Our intermediate surfing group returned to Uluwatu this morning for the day’s first surf where wave height was smaller than the previous day.

It was the perfect morning for building confidence in what can be an intimidating surf spot as waves were breaking without as much power as normal, between waist and shoulder high.

We’re expecting the swell height to fade further in to tomorrow so it might even be possible for the beginners to give world-famous Uluwatu a try for themselves.

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

With a fading swell it was the turn of the intermediate surfers to enjoy Uluwatu this morning for the glassy dawn session

Waves were much more accessible than in previous days with less size and power as they were peeling along the Uluwatu reef in the knee to shoulder-high range

Tomorrow’s swell is expected to be a similar size again or smaller before a bump in wave height is expected to start the new week
