Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

We were back at Uluwatu this morning for the first session of the day where conditions were glassy but a little bumpy by our usual standards

Waves were breaking between chest and head-high and being enjoyed by a crowd of around ten surfers, spread between the main peak and Racetracks sections

With favourable tides meaning the water on the reef is close to the optimal range all day, it should be a great day of waves for the intermediate/advanced surfers once the offshore breeze straightens things out

It’s never too early to start planning your next trip to Bali, so until we can welcome you back, we hope you’ll continue to check our regular surf reports, and for news on the situation here, you should follow our updates over on Facebook

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

We were back at Uluwatu with the camera this morning for the first session of the day where the first signs of the new swell were appearing with waves breaking everywhere from waist to head high

The early wind was less optimal than it has been for the past week but conditions were still clean and uncrowded which is the kind of combination to make any surfer happy

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

The last of the current swell was providing some small but clean and fun left-handers down the road at Uluwatu this morning

Waves were breaking between waist and shoulder high with fewer than twenty surfers spread across the length of the reef

The new swell will arrive tomorrow and build throughout the day which means more of the local breaks will start to work and offer some more variety to the lucky surfers here on the Bukit

Intermediate Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

It was another morning for the intermediate surfers down at Uluwatu today as the last of the current swell provided some small but fun and glassy waves

Wave height ranged from waist to head-high and there were plenty to go around with not many surfers in the water

We expect similar conditions to persist for today and tomorrow before the next swell arrives and with the neap tides, it should be possible to surf from dawn to dusk with the tide remaining in the optimal range all day

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

There was just enough time to squeeze in the first surf of the day this morning before the tide dropped below the optimal range down at Uluwatu

With a reasonable amount of swell still around after yesterday’s peak, waves were breaking between chest and head-high and were being enjoyed by a relatively small crew of surfers and bodyboarders

Looking ahead, we expect the swell to continue to fade tomorrow throughout the day before the arrival of a new high-period swell late on Friday which will fill in over the weekend to provide another week of very solid waves

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

We were back at Uluwatu — our favourite local intermediate/advanced spot — this morning, for the first session of the day.

The waves were mainly breaking around chest high but the new swell had already started filling in and offering a few larger sets — something we expect to continue until wave size is back in the overhead range tomorrow.

Here in Bali we were all hugely disappointed to learn that the national government aren’t planning to start offering short-term visas again until 2021 which will be sure to make what is already a desperate situation for many people here even worse.

Intermediate and Advanced Surf Guiding at Uluwatu, Bali

We were back at Uluwatu again today to catch the glassy morning session and the swell we’d been expecting overnight was showing nicely

With a foot or two of extra wave height, there were some great waves breaking up on the peak and along down to the reef to the racetracks section

As the tide filled in the number of surfers in the water increased but compared to how it would normally be at this time of the year, it was relatively deserted

Here in Bali we’ve got our fingers crossed that the national government will reopen the borders for tourism on the 11th September and we hope to be able to welcome you back to paradise very soon

Small but Glassy at Uluwatu

Although the current swell continues to fade and the wave size had decreased in size again overnight, there were still some fun ones rolling through at Uluwatu this morning for the intermediate surfers

As the tide was dropping out there were only a handful of surfers in the water enjoying the sunny glassy conditions

We’re expecting a new higher-period swell to arrive during the night which should see another foot or two in wave height to wake up to tomorrow morning

Here in Bali we’ve got our fingers crossed that the national government will reopen the borders for tourism on the 11th September and we hope to be able to welcome you back to paradise very soon

One for the Intermediate Surfers at Uluwatu, Bali

With the swell having dropped over the past couple of days, Uluwatu was looking friendlier for the intermediate surfers this morning

Waves were breaking around shoulder high with a few larger ones sneaking through and the very light morning wind ensured the conditions were perfectly glassy with plenty of waves to go around

Here in Bali we’ve got our fingers crossed that the national government will reopen the borders for tourism in September and hope to be able to welcome you back to paradise very soon
